You are NOT required to be a member of the American Anthropological Association to be a member of SASci. In addition, SASci has registered SAS as an interest group in the American Anthropological Association as a step towards becoming a section in the AAA. SASci, the independent parent organization, was formed in 2002 as an effort to promote empirical research and social science in anthropology. Its AAA Interest Group, SAS, was organized at the 2003 AAA meetings in Chicago. As a student member you will have access to leaders in the field of anthropological sciences via the online discussion board and list-serv.
